Alf P has been an autodidact artist for 24 years
"My road toward becoming an artist started when I was 20 years old and a new neighbour moved in to the house next to my parents place.
Kurt Vincent, his wife Hanne and their boy Jonas. One day Kurt was messing around with something in his garden. I couldn’t quite see what it was, but it peaked my interest. So I came closer and looked over the hedge. Kurt was making a wooden sculpture from a tree he had cut down in his garden.
We got to talking and he invited me into his home. What I discovered where colourful abstract paintings with whimsical shapes as well as sculptures.
My feelings started to boil over. I felt as if I was hit by a hammer and didn’t know how to process all these impressions – but my interest was aroused.
Four years later I was living on the edge of society. My life needed a change – the arts became my way out.
About 8 years ago is when I found my own artistic expression. My style so to say!
I create street-art and pop-art inspired pieces as well as abstract paintings.
As an artist I love looking around for inspiration- playing and perfecting the expression of my own work.
One of the things that I have been working on for the last few years is up- and recycling and how to get my art to melt with things other people do not deem to be of use anymore."
Alf lives and works in Esbjerg, Denmark.
